Part- Time Ministry Assistant -
Job Type: Part Time (approx. 20 hours per week) (flexible office hours)
Pay Type: Salary depending upon experience

Position Description:
The Ministry Assistant provides general logistical and ministry support to all staff members, ministry heads, and other leadership.  They also provide specific assistance to the Elders. This position is not merely a clerical or secretarial position; it is a ministry position and requires someone who is called to minister by helping others within the church leadership and body to minister in their specific called areas
Areas of responsibility include but are not limited to:

OFFICE MANAGEMENT
● Keep the church office organized and tidy
● Assist in maintenance and/or modification of church administration systems
● Obtain mail daily & distribute to staff & ministry leaders
● Purchase office supplies and general ministry supplies, monitor inventory
● Update and maintain email lists, membership role, and other ministry lists
● Create forms, sign up sheets,  and other documents as needed
● Create & print weekly worship guides

BOOKKEEPING
● Input online giving & in-person giving into a database for financial record keeping
● Input attendance & other figures from weekly services into database for record keeping
● Compose and submit Annual Church Profile to the SBC & Mt. Zion Baptist Assoc.

EVENT COORDINATION
● Create advertising for scheduled church events and other special events
● Assist with organization and maintenance of church calendar
● Assist with purchase of event supplies
● Coordinate and assist with events on-site as needed

MINISTRY ITEMS
● Create, print, and prepare weekly worship guides
● Create, print, organize, and mail monthly newsletter
● Order, organize, and distribute Sunday School and other literature as needed
● Print and provide copies of meeting agendas, reports, and minutes
● Attend Staff meetings as a part of the ministry staff at FBCHR

MISCELLANEOUS MINISTRY ITEMS
● Since needs within the organization can change, the Ministry Assistant will periodically
receive assignments outside of the scope of what’s mentioned above.
● Order, organize, and distribute Sunday School and other literature as needed

ESSENTIALS
● Must be a born-again believer and model a commitment to Jesus Christ.
● Be personable and clear when communicating with people by phone, in person and by email.
● Must possess a solid working knowledge of computers and related software; familiarity with computer networks, printers and databases.
● Knowledge of computer graphics and basic design skills using Microsoft Office, Publisher, and Adobe are desirable as editing materials such as postcards, brochures, and flyers are part of the job.
● Must be personable, dependable, and flexible, have the ability to work under pressure, possess good time-management skills, and be well organized. A servant heart is a must!
● Accuracy and thoroughness is required in completion of work activities. Must be able to efficiently operate a variety of office equipment (i.e., computer, calculator, copier, and other office equipment) and to be skilled in troubleshooting. Must be motivated to look for potential oversights and proactively suggest solutions.
● Must be able to see the overall “big picture” of the ministry of FBC Haw River and proactively connect the dots. It is expected that candidates for this position would be enthusiastic about FBC Haw River’s Vision, Mission, and direction.
● Must be a self-starter and have the ability to stay focused and work without close supervision.
● Must work well in a team environment as well as independently.
● Regularly participate in corporate worship at FBC Haw River.
● Must remain a member in good standing at FBC Haw River.


EXPERIENCE
● Microsoft Office programs (Access is a plus)
● Experience with Website & Graphics is a plus
● Experience with Social Media is a plus

RESPONSIBILITY
● The Ministry Assistant/Secretary is directly responsible to the Senior Pastor or other assigned ministerial staff. The Ministry Assistant may supervise other office assistants or office volunteers.
